Good things come to those who... work!

So many of us were told as kids, “good things come to those who wait….” While patience is key to living a fulfilling life, and getting what we want, WORK is also required.

A lot of us, myself included, have the tendency to say “when the the time is right, I’ll do it.” “It” being, quitting a job, asking for a promotion or new scope in our role, submitting a proposal to a dream client, starting a business, asking for speaking gig, breaking up with your SO, etc…

But the reality is that there is NEVER a perfect time. Other than NOW!

And a lot of the time, we have to ASK for exactly what we want - we think that people can read our minds and that our dream writing publications will just find us. And sometimes, they do, but it takes a whole lot of work and consistency to get noticed for what YOU want to be noticed for! So you can either tiny step it, keep yourself small and hope for the best, or ASK for it! Will it happen? Maybe. A yes is never guaranteed, and that’s why we don’t event start. We’re scared of the rejection.

If you get a no, and let me tell you from personal experience, there will be no’s, but maybe you can ask for feedback. Why didn’t you get it? What can you do to be more qualified for the opportunity? Maybe you’ll learn the decision had absolutely nothing to do with you - it was just bad timing or someone else got there first.

Check out my #reframefriday video above for some examples of ways I’ve had to ask for the things I’ve wanted and the importance of building resilience. And that yes, patience is most definitely involved in this process, as is the right timing, but a lot of the time, we are just one ask away from getting exactly what we want!

What’s standing in the way of you committing to do 1 thing each day that gets you closer to whatever it is you want? Go do it!!!
