Wanting more, But feeling Shame and Guilt?

There can be so much shame, guilt and uncertainty around wanting more in life (and if you know me, you know I'm not talking from a material possession standpoint)...

But why then, when something deep in your gut/soul/intuition (whatever you want to call that voice) tells you there's something bigger, more impactful, exciting, meaningful, purposeful out there for you, do you experience such discomfort?

Because it can feel SO DAMN ISOLATING. Not to mention, overwhelming.

People around you may call you greedy, aggressive, ungrateful, privileged (in a negative light), entitled, etc... They will ask, "Why do you want more; you have it so good already?" or how about the "Gosh, 'Sally/George,' you always want more, when will it ever be enough?!?"

***Cue dramatic music and heart thumping in chest, followed by...***

The downward spiral of thoughts and questions going through your mind:

  • Am I greedy?
  • Do I want too much?
  • Do I really deserve more?
  • I do feel like I want more a lot of the time? That DOES seem ungrateful! Maybe I haven't been grateful enough for it all?
  • Maybe all of this is enough and I'm just not looking at it the right way?
  • I can't even put my finger on what it is that I want, maybe I'm just going nuts?

You are NOT going nuts! And for goodness sake, your intuition is speaking to you because YOU ARE BEYOND GRATEFUL! You so deeply want to use your gifts to make an impact! You just don't know what that looks like, for you, yet.

Even if it's only a feeling that you can't put words to, you may be wishing it away and trying to bury it deep inside of you. Because...

It feels uncomfortable. Uncertain. Maybe even scary.

It could be labeled anything: emptiness, longing, soul sucking, FOMO, anxiety, guilt, anger, loneliness, fear, etc...

Whatever the feeling is, or the thoughts that come to mind, it's all happening for a reason. Don't be afraid to get curious.

Because acknowledging and growing from anything that feels uncomfortable can drive unimaginable meaning and reward (not to mention liberation, authenticity and success)!

From personal experience, I know the sooner you listen to the voice, the better. I ignored mine, went deeper and deeper in my "hole of darkness." For so long, I thought that was how I had to live. Thank goodness, I started to see the light and get the help I needed to transform my life and mindset.

If I can do it, you can too.

No matter your age, gender, profession, relationship status, etc... you always have the choice to change; to become curious and get back on track!

Cheers to getting CURIOUS and CLEAR about what you want in 2018!
